Starting this week, I am honored to be a visiting artist at Artistic Roots in Plymouth NH! This is the first time I have been a visiting artist, and I can’t really believe it. Artistic Roots is a cooperative non-profit art gallery and if you live any where near Plymouth, NH, you have to go. It is filled with gorgeous artwork in every medium you can imagine; woodworking, pottery, fiber arts, metal work, jewelry, and paper arts.
I’m going down this weekend to set up my display. Me, setting up a display — in a gallery! Pinch me! There are a lot of behind the scenes pieces to this puzzle that don’t come into play on the craft fair circuit. Since I won’t be on hand to describe and show my work, I am going to make some cute and snappy descriptive signage. I also need to tag and label each item (yup, even every note card), with my very own visiting artist’s id number and price. And finally, I will create an inventory list to add to the official shop binder which will hopefully end up with lots of sold check marks by the end of my time at the gallery.
Thanks to my friend Barb who pushed me to entertain this idea and reminded me that I was ready for it! Oh, and if you are in the area, there will be an open house on Thursday, February 15 from 5-7:30 pm, there’ll be snacks, and artists, like me, wanting to share how much they love art with you.
