I love that what I create is all one-of-a-kind. No two items are alike (well, almost no two items). This gives me the freedom to express whatever I’m feeling, no need to seek perfection, because each item is perfect exactly because it is an original.
Sometimes, my vision isn’t quite what a customer is looking for, and I love that, too! Especially when they approach me with their own cool ideas and give me the honor of creating what they are looking for.
In the past, I’ve been asked to make personalized thank you note cards, wedding albums, guest books, and travelogues. It’s so fun to hear the ideas of someone else, who then trusts me to create their idea in my special way.

This week, I received two different custom order requests. The first was a reboot of an existing album. This person loved my extra large wooden notebook, but instead of using it as I imagined, as a sketch book in a portrait layout, she would like to turn it into a guest book for her summer cottage in a horizontal layout. So, I’ve created horizontal lined paper on the same nice 32 lb paper I love for my sketchbooks, punched holes, and will rebind the notebook. Fun project, and a great customization!
The second order I received this week came from a friend and volunteer at my library. She saw a friend’s bullet journal and approached me about making her two custom spiral bound notebooks. One with a specific color scheme, and the other with the missive to “do my own thing”. Not a problem, Elizabeth, I’m really good at doing my own thing!

I hope you have time to “customize” something this week. Even if you don’t think you’re the creative type, trust me, you can do it! Add a silk scarf to that wide brimmed hat. Paint each fingernail a different color. Arrange a bouquet of wildflowers in an old tea cup.
Be Unique, Original, Custom. Be You!
